R&D Management

This area includes the tools and services that make it possible for you to carry out your innovation activities in a systematised way, ensuring their success and efficiently employing available resources.

R&D project management

  • We help you define your project.
  • Coordination, follow-up and control of planning and resources. .
  • Proper management of generated documents.
  • Simple application for tax deductions for R&D.
  • We search for funding for the project.

Managing innovation in general and R&D projects in particular is crucial for a firm to be competitive with respect to its competitors. PRODINTEC has developed its own methodology for managing projects that allows the execution, follow-up and control of R&D projects, thus ensuring their success and allowing us to know the value obtained when carrying out such a project. In this respect, PRODINTEC becomes your technology partner for managing your firm’s R&D projects.

The developed methodology has been the basis for the development of IDInet®, an intuitive computer tool for managing projects as well as all the activity of an R&D Department. IDInet® has been developed so that it may be rapidly and easily implanted in any firm.

R&D Internationalisation

  • Eureka, Iberoeka Programmes.
  • International Cooperation Programmes: Chineka, Canadeka.
  • European Union Framework Programme.
  • MANUFUTURE Technology Platform: the manufacturing of the future.
  • Iberian Network of Innovation Support Centres (RICAI).

Despite the fact that Asturian firms are highly internationalised in terms of the carrying out of their business activities (exporting products and importing raw materials and components), the situation in R&D activities is totally the opposite.

Cooperation experiences with foreign entities for R&D activities is scare (and on occasions not very successful). This has a high opportunity cost as a result of losing access to important sources of external funding which are only available when this type of collaboration exists. This is the case of the EUREKA, IBEROEKA and CHINEKA programmes channelled through the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology under the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism) and the European Union Framework Programmes..

PRODINTEC possesses valuable experience in support programmes for international projects such as Eureka, Iberoeka, Chineka, the EU Framework Programme, which make it a first-rate ally to reduce part of the risks and costs of this type of experience. Moreover, PRODINTEC participates in several international networks, such as, for instance, those that open the doors of your firm to partners from other countries:

  • MANUFUTURE: The Technology Platform on Future Manufacturing Technologies.
  • RICAI: The Iberian Network of Innovation Support Centres.

Protection of technology

  • To define the degree of novelty of an invention.
  • To establish the most suitable protection strategy (patent, utility model, design or industrial drawing).
  • To draw up a descriptive report on the invention in order to apply for protection.
  • Advice on the process of applying for patents

Many firms do not have sufficient information and encounter difficulties as a result of the complexity of the process of applying for these kinds of protection. PRODINTEC offers its services, acting as a link between the firm and intellectual property agents (generally specialists with a legal background) in charge of the application procedure for the chosen form of protection. PRODINTEC lends its support to the firm in all the steps prior to application: selecting what to protect (complete product, a part, manufacturing process), choosing the most suitable form of protection (patent, model, design, secret), drawing up the technical report and claims for a property agent to register the application.

All of the above procedures require confidential and neutral treatment, which an entity such as PRODINTEC can guarantee.

Technology surveillance and forecasting

  • We help you define the most appropriate Surveillance Plan for your firm.
  • We keep watch for you.

These innovative tools allow us to be able to position a firm on the cutting edge, without it being surprised by advances in a technology that is significant for its business. The fundamental difference between surveillance and forecasting lies in the time horizon: while surveillance keeps us informed about short-term changes, forecasting does so with respect to the medium to long term.

PRODINTEC helps you define your Surveillance Strategy (what, where, why, when to carry out surveillance) and, if you wish, will carry out surveillance on your behalf. At the same time, PRODINTEC also acts as a support for you to carry out forecasting in your firm by means of the analysis of existing forecast studies and how they reflect on your firm’s Strategic Plan. top

Technical/economic feasibility analysis project

  • Technical feasibility analysis.
  • Economic feasibility analysis.

This type of project consists in a prior analysis either to the development of a new product or to the incorporation of a new production technology. The Project team will study both the technical possibility of implementing the change that is being proposed in the product/process and evaluate whether it may be economically feasible to start up a project. top

Technology auditing/Benchmarking

  • To establish the current state of the art of your technologies.
  • To know the position of your firm with respect to your technology competitors.

This service consists in analysing the technology that a firm (or an industry sector) is using in a specific activity, comparing it with the state of the art at a given geographical level (regional, national or international). The relative positioning of the firm (or industry sector) will be evaluated with respect to said standard, drawing the conclusion as to whether it is positioned at the leading edge or whether, on the contrary, it needs to evolve.

PRODINTEC can act as a neutral entity (a sort of judge or referee), thereby mitigating possible reluctance with respect to another firm (even though it might not be a competitor) analysing the firm’s own processes so as to be able to compare these and thus be able to identify best practices. This study may also offer feedback to technology surveillance and state-of-the-art studies outside of the geographical or industry-sector setting in which the work is carried out, which the centre itself may carry out. top
