The goal of this area of activity is continuous improvement of firm competitiveness (productivity, costs, quality) by means of the application of the latest technologies in production systems and processes.
Every industrial firm has a team of experts in the specific procedures and technologies of its business/product. However, there is another type of know-how that is more horizontal and which affects manufacturing and may significantly condition productivity.
The detection of operations of NO added value, or which incur high costs, the solution of bottlenecks, the rationalisation of lay-outs, correct planning, the management of stocks of raw materials, of work in process and of the finished product, preventative maintenance… are all issues to be taken into consideration that may be overlooked due to lack of knowledge or the force of habit of “doing things they way they’ve always been done”.
GAP, the production system diagnostic tool: Specialists from PRODINTEC and FUTUVER in tools and techniques such as TOC’s, Lean Production, 6, TPM, SMED, JIT… with experience in the analysis, management and optimisation of production systems have created a methodology for objectively measuring current productivity, quantifying the possible improvement, proposing solutions and assessing the result after its implantation.
Plant reengineering projects: To analyse a production PLANT that a firm wishes to improve, or a new plant to be built, in order to solve problems related to work flows, handling, optimisation of space, warehouses, etc.
Process simulation services: To analyse the solvency of a lay-out, the ergonomics of a work station, the flexibility of a work cell, etc. without the need to shut-down the plant, and without making a single move until the best possible option is identified.
Process rationalisation or automation projects: To analyse a specific production PROCESS, to detect the most important deficiencies, to design solutions for these and to collaborate in the implantation of such solutions. As pilot experiences, and in collaboration with third parties, PRODINTEC can carry out a project for automating production processes in a plant resulting from the need to improve productivity, eliminate adverse working conditions, etc.
Reengineering with suppliers: The costs of a product depend on the actual manufacturing process to an extent that sometimes does not exceed 30%. It may therefore be more effective for your firm to act as a driver, working with your suppliers, revising their processes so as to make them more competitive and thus reduce the prices of components and raw materials.
Training: methodologies such as TOC’s, Lean Production, 6, TPM, SMED, JIT… oriented to their application in your firm.

PRODINTEC has an advanced machining workshop, placing at the practical disposal of firms cutting-edge technologies such as high speed machining, simultaneous 5-axis machining, micromachining, metrology on the machine itself, etc. PRODINTEC can carry out studies on machinability, tool-material-speed suitability, creation of pathways or optimisation of machining processes by means of CAM adapted to a client’s particular conditions and machinery.
High speed and simultaneous 5-axis machining: enables the machining of new materials, already tempered (high hardness) materials, dry machining, new types of parts with complex shapes in order to access new markets... all in combination with increased productivity.
Micromachining: at high speeds, enabling absolute precision of around a micron, which is suitable both for producing very small parts as well as for larger, high precision parts. Surface finishes of just over 100 nanometres may be obtained.
Training: The specialists at PRODINTEC can provide specialised training in these areas on the latest generation of tools so that firms may assess the suitability of these technologies.

In collaboration with the University of Oviedo, PRODINTEC boasts an electromagnetic compatibility test laboratory focused on guaranteeing that products for the industrial setting and consumer goods comply with the necessary requirements to obtain the CE mark in this field.
IMMUNITY tests may be conducted in compliance with the UNE-EN-61000-4-2,3,4,5,6,8,9 and 11 Standards, and EMMISSION tests in compliance with UNE-EN-61000-3-2,3 and UNE-EN-55011, UNE-EN-55013, UNE-EN-55014, and UNE-EN-55022. It should be noted that all the tests may be carried out on three-phase equipment up to 32 Amps.

When a firm is considering incorporating machinery with a technology with which it is lacking in previous experience, it is faced with many doubts that are both time consuming as well as requiring knowledge acquisition.
What’s more, this is an effort that must be made on one single occasion and that will probably not be repeated in a long time.
PRODINTEC can serve as a qualified independent assessor, analysing the particularities of the firm and the state of the art of the technology that it intends to acquire and evaluating its suitability. It may even draw up a set of conditions defining the requirements of the machinery and present a report on the most appropriate suppliers.

Specific tools exist nowadays in the field of industrial maintenance that allow firms to move on from traditional corrective maintenance (repair when a breakdown occurs) to preventative or even predictive maintenance.
Thermography: is one of the tools with the widest range of applications, enabling differences in temperature to be seen between different points or different objects. This technique has applications in fields such as: control in building activities (damp, filtrations), electrical installations (switchboards, lines, motors, transformation centres, solar panels), mechanics (friction, lubrication), insulation (chimneys, piping, steam traps), medicine, veterinary medicine, machining, metal casting, etc. We possess equipment for measuring from -40 to 1500ºC.
High-speed filming: is a very useful tool for detecting mechanical failures produced in mechanisms in high-speed movement (labelling machines, mechanical handling systems, pneumatic systems, lubricant streams, mist mixtures, etc.). It allows the recording and detection of the way in which difficult-to-detect failures are (often randomly) produced.

Rapid Manufacturing or Direct Manufacturing of functional parts from a CAD 3D model from powder material (plastic, metal,…) is already a reality and there are increasing sectors in industry that are investing on this type of manufacturing for the future. The possibility to fabricate parts directly for a CAD file without having to use moulds or fixtures, making layers of material that will produce parts by laser sintering is already causing a revolution in many industrial sector that see this technology as the way to have Design work hand in hand with Manufacturing, and this way allowing great value added with geometries that is some cases are impossible to make with traditional manufacturing methods. top
PRODINTEC offers metrology services (Coordinate Measuring Machine) through probing and optical systems so manufacturing firms that do not enjoy such equipment can make use of it. top
